A study of resources and specifiations for tourism and recreation belongs among the traditional and basic themes of the geography of tourism. We encounter a relatively broad range of factors in research of the extension and structures of tourism. The factors affct by a diffrent way the development of tourism. The tourism study as a branch of sciences wants suffient academic background for a longer period. It often coincides with the planning, recreation, geography, economy, transportation and other sectors. Research trends of specifiation of tourism development are currently directed towards making the methods with appropriate statistical techniques based on strong theoretical principles. The aim of this direction is to develop the tourism as a recognized branch of science. In the present paper we present an overview of the existing and new methodologies that have been developed and applied in projects of tourism research at the Institute of Landscape Ecology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava.
