The study concerning the woody component of biocorridors deals with the growth of tree species on the former agricultural land. On the example of the Vracov biocorridor, the model evaluation is presented of the woody component development in 1993, 1996, 1999 and 2002. The following data were recorded: number of woody species, health conditions and basic biometrical parameters. Main assessing was done on four permanent research plots, size 16x50 m with more than 1100 pieces of woody plants. From the results of regular surveys followed on that the amount of initially planted woody species at research plots has slightly decreased sins 1993. The main focus was payd to the dominant trees - Quercus robur and Tilia cordata. Inventories in 1996 and 2002 have covered up wholle biocorridor more than 12 000 plants. One positive thing was observed that amount of introduced species was progressively decreased and for this reason number of autochthonous trees and schrubs was increased about 10% in last 5 years. Natural regeneration of woody species was detected too. It is possible to say that trees grow very well and the biocorridor is fully closed. The biocorridor in this stage of development is already able to fulfil required functions.
